We provide a broad range of commercial and retail banking services to our customers, including Chilean peso and foreign currency denominated loans to finance a variety of commercial transactions, trade, foreign currency forward contracts and credit lines and a variety of retail banking services, including mortgage financing. We seek to offer our customers a wide range of products while providing high levels of service. In addition to our traditional banking operations, we offer a variety of financial services, including financial leasing, financial advisory services, mutual fund management, securities brokerage, insurance brokerage and investment management.

Our History
Established in Chile since 1978, Banco Santander Chile is a leader thanks to its strategy based on specialization in the financial business, innovation in products, risk assessment, quality of client service, complemented by the international network that Santander Group has around the world.
1978
Banco Santander enters the Chilean market, opening a subsidiary mainly aimed at foreign trade
1982
Banco Santander buys over Banco Español Chile, in liquidation.
1984
First bank in Chile to provide services through personal computers
1989-1990
After the world economic crisis, the Central Bank acquires the bad debt of Banco Español Chile, who later buys back all the loan portfolio to the Central Bank. Banco Santander buys back all of the loan portfolio and changes its name officially to Banco Santander Chile
1993
Santander acquires Fincard and Fusa and enters the mass consumer lending market.
1994
Santander launches their product Superhipoteca, enabling the bank to duplicate its business volume in mortgages in just eight months.
1995
Santander launches Banefe, to better cater to the mass market.
1996
Santander merges with Banco Osorno and la Union, becoming one of the largest banks in the country. Loan market share reaches 12%.
1998
Santander issues the first Guaranteed Infrastructure Bonds in the country, which enables the financing of major road developments. Santander also launches its Bancassurance, enabling it to distribute insurance products to its clients.
2002
Santander merges with Banco Santiago, reaching a market share of 25%
2004
Santander becomes the most efficient bank and publishes its first Social Responsibility Report
2007
Santander launches VOX, a new concept in telephone banking. Santander also becomes the first financial entity in Chile to receive the Sarbanes Oxley certification
2009
Santander is the first retail bank to open a branch on Easter Island.
2010
Chile is hit by one of the world’s largest earthquakes. Santander is fully operable the following business day.
2011
Santander launches its Strategic Plan to become the best bank in client service. As part of this plan, a new Customer Service Department is founded.
2016
Santander launches the Santander Workcafé, with a co-working space open to the public.
2017
Santander launches Life in December, a program that awards clients for their good credit behavior.
2019
Santander acquires 51% of Santander Consumer Finance, a vehicle financing company, entering into the car financing business. It also constitutes Klare, an online open platform for insurance products.
2021
Launch of Getnet, our acquiring business.
